Homewood Memorial Gardens is an active cemetery. It performs pauper’s grave services for Cook County, which includes the City of Chicago. Once a month, cemetery workers bury about 30 of the unknown or unclaimed together in an unmarked mass grave.
The mass graves are located in the dirt area closest to the road - closest to the quarry.
